The Necessity of the Service Maintenance

Even the most advanced systems, including the uninterrupted power supply systems (UPS) contain the wearing parts. All recoverable systems, including UPS, applied for the uninterrupted or temporary operation, are needed to be maintained.

The maintenance can be of two types. Firstly, unscheduled, this is necessary in the result of the failures or incorrect operation of the running system. The aim of the unscheduled maintenance is recovering of the system’s functions by replacement, repair or adjustment of the components, which cause the malfunctions. Secondly, scheduled maintenance, this is done in regular time intervals. The aim of the scheduled maintenance is to keep the system in order to ensure the set reliability and safety levels and also troubleshooting and removal of the hidden faults.

The scheduled maintenance includes control, inspection and technical investigations in the process of which:

    1. The regular maintenance of the normally operating subsystems and components is provided (cleaning, greasing, filling by the processing liquids, inspection, adjustment, etc.);
    2. The failed back up components are checked, replaced and repaired;
    3. The components which are close to wear are checked and, if necessary, replaced.

These actions are done in order to reduce the failures of the components and whole system, therefore the scheduled maintenance is also called preventive.
In order to provide the maximum efficient operation of the uninterrupted power supply systems it is necessary to make the preventive maintenance regularly. Our purpose in the field of the service maintenance is to avoid the failures before they can appear. The appropriate support and regular preventive maintenance will help to reduce the downtimes, to save time and money necessary for the equipment repair. The conviction that the preventive maintenance of the system is done properly can be ensured only by the specially trained personnel, acquainted with the internal structure of the UPS equipment and having the necessary qualification and work experience with the corresponding equipment.
